Biography

Shoshana Pavett is an exciting, young soprano currently based in South Wales. She recently graduated with a BMus (Hons) in vocal studies from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Buddug Verona James. Operatic credits include Micaela in Carmen (Bizet) for Opera Cocktail, the cover of Pamina in the Magic Flute (Mozart) for Mantissa Opera, Marcellina in the Marriage of Figaro (Mozart) for Opera'r Ddraig and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) for the Welsh Baroque Orchestra and Camerata. Shoshana has also been a participant in Welsh National Youth Opera singing the Beggarwoman in their production of Sweeney Todd (Sondheim) and Iliona in their world premier of The Calling of Maisey Day (Brian Irvine).For RWCMD, Shoshana has performed in both the RWCMD Opera Chorus (Die Fledermaus) and taken the role of Beatrice in Beatrice and Benedict (Berlioz) for RWCMD Opera Scenes.Concert credits include Serenade to Music (Vaughan Williams) with the City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra, Treble II in Britten's Ceremony of Carols for RWCMD, Vivaldi's Gloria for Wales Sinfonia Chorus, De Falla's El Amor Brujo for Todmorden Orchestra, Handel's Messiah for Ad Hoc Baroque and extracts from Bach's Magnificat and Soprano II in Haydn's Nelson Mass both for BBC National Chorus of Wales.Shoshana also recently sang as the operatic soloist in the Port Talbot Passions produced by Michael Sheen in conjunction with National Theatre Wales and Wildworks.A particular interest of Shoshana's is modern music and she has starred in the premiers of a number of operatic and concert works. She most recently sang as the Chorus Soprano in the world premier of Narcissus and Echo with Opera Viscera, performed at the Secret Garden Party Festival. Other credits include the title role in David Harrington's Little Red Riding Hood and the world premier of Tim Wilson's Of Light and Time both performed at the New Voice Showcase 2011 and the Soprano I Soloist in Becky Clarke's Miserere with Canton Chorus.Shoshana also works regularly as a teacher and workshop leader. She has worked for such companies as Opera'r Cymysg, Mantissa Opera, WNO MAX and Cinetig and currently teaches both privately and at Stagecoach Penarth.She was recently a finalist in the Music in the Vale Young Singer of the Year Competition and has recently been chosen to participate in two weeks of Body/Opera workshops culminating in a newly devised opera based on Nietzsche's 'Thus Spoke Zarathustra' with Opera Erratica.Upcoming operatic engagements include Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) and Marzellina in Fidelio (Beethoven) both for New London Opera Players and Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande (Debussy) for a new digital airing of the opera.

Cor Cyfoes

Cor Cyfoes is a Cardiff based chamber choir formed in 2009 by Richard Jackson and Matthew Clark for the recording, workshopping and performing of new choral music.The choir is made up of emerging artists; both singers and composers.

Current repertoire includes works by Liz Lane, Jack White and Sarah Passe.

The choir has recently been invited to perform Belshazzar's Feast with UWE Symphony Orchestra and is also involved in the world premiere of Thomas Morgan's 'The Passion of Christ'.
